Standard features include gas-piston operation for increased reliability in all weather conditions, a heavy duty, free-floating fixed barrel system for enhanced accuracy, and a free-floating, slimline MIL-STD 1913 rail handguard system for mounting lights, lasers, grips, bipods, and other accessory items. The high-performance DFX™bolt and barrel extension group is designed from the ground up to safely withstand the relentless and punishing demands of the sustained fire role.

No permanent modification is required to the lower receiver for installation which is accomplished in minutes, and everything that is necessary is included with the DFX™ kit, which consists of a detailed Operator's Manual, a powerful recoil spring for reliable stripping of linked ammunition, a modified bolt catch for use with the DFX™ upper, and 100 brand new USGI M27 ammunition links to get you started.
